Rulings on the distribution of sacrificial meat

It is very important for us to know the rules for the distribution of sacrificial meat. Because Eid-ul-Adha, the religious festival of Muslims is coming. We have written various articles on the rules of sacrifice. In today's discussion, we will discuss the rules for the distribution of sacrificial meat.

(1) Distribution of sacrificial meat:

In the light of the Qur'an and Sunnah, it is permissible for us to eat the meat of the sacrificial animal ourselves and distribute it among the poor and needy. So that we can reach the true spirit of piety and gain the pleasure of Allah. We find evidence of the distribution of sacrificial meat in the Qur'an and Sunnah.
Allah said: ŁَŁƒُŁ„ُŁˆŲ§ Ł…ِŁ†ْŁ‡َŲ§ ŁˆَŲ£َŲ·ْŲ¹ِŁ…ُŁˆŲ§ Ų§Ł„ْŲØَŲ§Ų¦ِŲ³َ Ų§Ł„ْŁَŁ‚ِŁŠŲ±َ۔Eat (the sacrificial meat) yourself and feed the poor. (Surat al-Hajj, verse 36) The Prophet (PBUH) did not allow the meat of the first sacrificial animal to be stored for more than three days.
But this order was revoked and the following year he allowed the storage of sacrificial meat. And the previous ban was lifted. Hazrat Ayesha (RA) narrates that the Prophet (PBUH) said: ŁَŁƒُŁ„ُŁˆŲ§ ŁˆَŲ§ŲÆَّŲ®ِŲ±ُŁˆŲ§ ŁˆَŲŖَŲµَŲÆَّŁ‚ُŁˆŲ§۔(Sacrificial meat) Eat, store and also give charity. (Sahih Muslim, Hadith No. 1971)
In the rulings on the distribution of sacrificial meat, it is proved from the Qur'an and Hadith that we should eat the sacrificial meat ourselves. And we should also do charity. But the amount of it is not stated in the Qur'an and Hadith how much we should eat and how much we should give in charity.
There is disagreement among the scholars in this regard. Some scholars say that we should divide the sacrificial meat into three parts. Let him eat a portion himself. In part, he sent a gift. And give a portion of charity. While some scholars say that we should divide the sacrificial meat into two parts. He should give part of it in charity and he should eat or store part of it himself.
But the prevailing position in this regard is that the sacrificer can eat and store meat without any determination. And if he wishes, he can give all the meat in charity.
Hazrat Abdullah ibn Barida narrates from his father that the Messenger of Allah said: Ł†َŁ‡َŁŠْŲŖُŁƒُŁ…ْ Ų¹َŁ†ْ Ł„ُŲُŁˆŁ…ِ Ų§Ł„ْŲ£َŲ¶َŲ§ŲِŁŠِّ ŁَŁˆْŁ‚َ Ų«َŁ„َŲ§Ų«ٍ، ŁَŲ£َŁ…ْŲ³ِŁƒُŁˆŲ§ Ł…َŲ§ ŲØَŲÆَŲ§ Ł„َŁƒُŁ…ْ۔ I forbade you to keep sacrificial meat for more than three days. So keep as much meat as you want. (Sahih Muslim, Hadith No. 1977)
"ŁَŲ£َŁ…ْŲ³ِŁƒُŁˆŲ§ Ł…َŲ§ ŲØَŲÆَŲ§ Ł„َŁƒُŁ…" implies that a person can store meat without any determination. It is not necessary to divide the meat into three or two parts. Because we do not find any such division in the Qur'an and Hadith.
It is haraam to sell anything of the sacrificial animal and take advantage of it. However, the person to whom we give meat, animal skins, or anything else can benefit from it in any way he wants.

(2) Consumption of sacrificial fur:

When we declare the rules for the distribution of sacrificial meat, there is also the question of what is the use of the sacrificial skin?
The person who has sacrificed cannot benefit from it by selling the sacrificial skin. However, he can benefit from it without selling it, because the skin of the sacrificial animal has the same rules as the meat of the sacrificial meat. Just as we can benefit from sacrificial meat but cannot sell it. The same is true of sacrificial skins.
A person who sells the skin of a sacrificial animal and uses the proceeds for personal gain has no validity in the sacrifice of such a person.
Hazrat Abu Hurayrah (RA) narrates that the messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: «Ł…َŁ†ْ ŲØَŲ§Ų¹َ Ų¬ِŁ„ْŲÆَ Ų£ُŲ¶ْŲِŁŠَّŲŖِŁ‡ِ ŁَŁ„َŲ§ Ų£ُŲ¶ْŲِŁŠَّŲ©َ Ł„َŁ‡ُ» The person who sells the sacrificial skin (and brings the money into personal possession) has not made any sacrifice. (That is, his sacrifice has not been accepted by Allah.)(Mustadrak Hakim and chain of its transmission is Hassan.)
That is, a person who does such a thing does not get the reward of sacrifice. Because how can we benefit by selling what we have nominated for Allah?
Therefore, if the sacrificer has skin, he should give it to charity or take it for personal use without selling it. That is, if he wants, he can make a musallah out of it or make a coat, etc.

(3) Giving the butcher any of the sacrificial animals as wages:
We cannot pay any of the sacrificial animals (ie skin or meat, etc.) to the butcher. Rather, we will pay the butcher on our behalf. However, it is certain that if the butcher is poor, we can pay him from the sacrificial meat in addition to the salary
Hazrat Ali (RA) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) commanded me to supervise his sacrifices. And (ordered that) I give their meat, skins, and swings, etc. to charity. And I will not give any of it to the butcher. He said: «Ł†َŲْŁ†ُ Ł†ُŲ¹ْŲ·ِŁŠŁ‡ِ Ł…ِŁ†ْ Ų¹ِŁ†ْŲÆِŁ†َŲ§» We will pay (the butcher's wages) on our own. (Sahih Muslim, Hadith No. 1317)
With the help of Allah, we have tried to explain in this short discussion the rules for the distribution of sacrificial meat. May Allah keep our thinking right. And may Allah help us to live our whole life according to religion. Amen!
