(1) Doing kindness to the animal while slaughtering it:

Islam teaches us kindness in every aspect of life. Even in a state of war, Islam does not allow us to kill infidels and desecrate their bodies. Rather, it commands you to kill them thoroughly.
In In the same way, Islam teaches us the etiquette of slaughtering animals. The first of these etiquettes is that when we slaughter an animal, we should be kind to it.
Kindness while slaughtering an animal means that our knife etc. should be sharp. And we run this knife on the animal's neck with full force and speed. So that the animal suffers the least.
Hazrat Shaddad ibn Aws (RA) narrates that I remembered two things from the Messenger of Allah (PBUH): «Ų„ِŁ†َّ Ų§Ł„Ł„Ł‡َ ŁƒَŲŖَŲØَ Ų§Ł„ْŲ„ِŲْŲ³َŲ§Ł†َ Ų¹َŁ„َŁ‰ ŁƒُŁ„ِّ Ų“َŁŠْŲ”ٍ، ŁَŲ„ِŲ°َŲ§ Ł‚َŲŖَŁ„ْŲŖُŁ…ْ ŁَŲ£َŲْŲ³ِŁ†ُŁˆŲ§ Ų§Ł„ْŁ‚ِŲŖْŁ„َŲ©َ، ŁˆَŲ„ِŲ°َŲ§ Ų°َŲØَŲْŲŖُŁ…ْ ŁَŲ£َŲْŲ³ِŁ†ُŁˆŲ§ Ų§Ł„Ų°َّŲØْŲَ، ŁˆَŁ„ْŁŠُŲِŲÆَّ Ų£َŲَŲÆُŁƒُŁ…ْ Ų“َŁْŲ±َŲŖَŁ‡ُ، ŁَŁ„ْŁŠُŲ±ِŲْ Ų°َŲØِŁŠŲَŲŖَŁ‡ُ» Indeed, Allah has enjoined kindness on everything. So when you kill, kill in a good manner. And when you slaughter, slaughter in a good manner. Sharpen your knife and relieve your slaughter. (Sahih Muslim, Hadith No. 1955)

(2) Standing the camel and tying its left arm:

It is also in the etiquette of slaughtering an animal that when we sacrifice a camel, it should be slaughtered by standing it up and tying its left arm. Allah said: ŁَŲ§Ų°ْŁƒُŲ±ُŁˆŲ§ Ų§Ų³ْŁ…َ Ų§Ł„Ł„َّŁ‡ِ Ų¹َŁ„َŁŠْŁ‡َŲ§ ŲµَŁˆَŲ§Łّ۔ Then stand them up and call on the name of Allah. (Surat al-Hajj, verse no. 36)
Hazrat Jabir bin Abdullah narrates that: Ų£َŁ†َّ Ų§Ł„Ł†َّŲØِŁŠَّ ŲµَŁ„َّŁ‰ Ų§Ł„Ł„Ł‡ُ Ų¹َŁ„َŁŠْŁ‡ِ ŁˆَŲ³َŁ„َّŁ…َ ŁˆَŲ£َŲµْŲَŲ§ŲØَŁ‡ُ ŁƒَŲ§Ł†ُŁˆŲ§ «ŁŠَŁ†ْŲَŲ±ُŁˆŁ†َ Ų§Ł„ْŲØَŲÆَŁ†َŲ©َ Ł…َŲ¹ْŁ‚ُŁˆŁ„َŲ©َ Ų§Ł„ْŁŠُŲ³ْŲ±َŁ‰ Ł‚َŲ§Ų¦ِŁ…َŲ©ً Ų¹َŁ„َŁ‰ Ł…َŲ§ ŲØَŁ‚ِŁŠَ Ł…ِŁ†ْ Ł‚َŁˆَŲ§Ų¦ِŁ…ِŁ‡َŲ§» The Prophet (PBUH) and his Companions used to tie the left foot of the camel and slaughter it while she was standing on her other (three) legs. (Sunan Abi Dawood and its chain of transmission are correct. Hadith No. 1767)

(3) If there is any animal other than a camel, it should be slaughtered lying on its side:

It is one of the etiquettes of slaughtering animals that if there is any animal other than a camel, we should slaughter it lying on its side. And keep your feet on one side of his neck, because that was the method of our beloved Prophet Muhammad.
Hazrat Anas (RA) states: «Ų¶َŲَّŁ‰ Ų§Ł„Ł†َّŲØِŁŠُّ ŲµَŁ„َّŁ‰ Ų§Ł„Ł„Ł‡ُ Ų¹َŁ„َŁŠْŁ‡ِ ŁˆَŲ³َŁ„َّŁ…َ ŲØِŁƒَŲØْŲ“َŁŠْŁ†ِ Ų£َŁ…ْŁ„َŲَŁŠْŁ†ِ، ŁَŲ±َŲ£َŁŠْŲŖُŁ‡ُ ŁˆَŲ§Ų¶ِŲ¹ًŲ§ Ł‚َŲÆَŁ…َŁ‡ُ Ų¹َŁ„َŁ‰ ŲµِŁَŲ§ŲِŁ‡ِŁ…َŲ§، ŁŠُŲ³َŁ…ِّŁŠ ŁˆَŁŠُŁƒَŲØِّŲ±ُ، ŁَŲ°َŲØَŲَŁ‡ُŁ…َŲ§ ŲØِŁŠَŲÆِŁ‡ِ» The Prophet (PBUH) sacrificed two black and white rams. I saw you putting your feet on their necks, reciting Bismillah, and saying Takbir. Then he slaughtered them both with his own hand. (Sahih Al-Bukhari, Hadith No. 5558)
If we lay the animal on the left side, it will be easily slaughtered. But if a man does the work of the right hand with the left hand, let him lay his animal on the right side. There is nothing wrong with that because the most important thing is to comfort the animal.
We also learn that man must slaughter his own animal with his own hands. But even if we get someone to slaughter us, there is nothing wrong with that. Because this action is also proven by Hadith.

(4) When slaughtering an animal, cut three things completely:

1. Throat:

It is necessary to cut the throat of the animal while slaughtering. This is the duct through which the animal breathes. Because the cutting of this vein stops the breathing of the animal, which does not make the survival of the animal possible.

2. Ų§َŁ„Ł…ُŲ±ِŲ¦ُ(Al-Murre):

When we slaughter an animal, we must also cut the vein. Because the animal's food reaches the stomach through this vein. Cutting this vein will stop him from receiving food.

3. Ų§َŁ„ŁˆَŲÆŲ¬َŲ§Ł†(Al-wadjan):

These are two thick veins that surround the throat. These are the veins that, after being cut, the animal is completely slaughtered. After these two veins are cut, the animal's body also loses blood which is harmful to human health.
It is one of the etiquettes of slaughtering animals that we should pay special attention to these three things while slaughtering them. When we cut these three veins well, the animal will be completely slaughtered.

(5) Pouring water on the neck of the slaughtered animal:

In the etiquette of slaughtering an animal, some Shawfa'is have also mentioned pouring water on the neck of the animal, but they have not mentioned any evidence for this. But if the water is needed during slaughter, there is no problem in using it.

(6) Hide the knife from the animal:

We should hide the knife from the animal before slaughtering it. Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal (may Allah have mercy on him) said: ŲŖŁ‚Ų§ŲÆ Ų„Ł„Ł‰ Ų§Ł„Ų°ŲØŲ Ł‚ŁˆŲÆŲ§ً Ų±ŁŁŠŁ‚Ų§ً، ŁˆŲŖŁˆŲ§Ų±Ł‰ Ų§Ł„Ų³ŁƒŁŠŁ† Ų¹Ł†Ł‡Ų§، ŁˆŁ„Ų§ ŁŠŲøŁ‡Ų± Ų§Ł„Ų³ŁƒŁŠŁ† Ų„Ł„Ų§ Ų¹Ł†ŲÆ Ų§Ł„Ų°ŲØŲ۔ The animal should be gently taken to the slaughterhouse. And the knives should be hidden from it before the time of slaughter.
A man said to the Messenger of Allah, "O Messenger of Allah! I have mercy on him while slaughtering the animal. He said: ŁˆَŲ§Ł„Ų“َّŲ§Ų©ُ Ų„ِŁ†ْ Ų±َŲِŁ…ْŲŖَŁ‡َŲ§ Ų±َŲِŁ…َŁƒَ Ų§Ł„Ł„Ł‡ُ  ŁˆَŲ§Ł„Ų“َّŲ§Ų©ُ Ų„ِŁ†ْ Ų±َŲِŁ…ْŲŖَŁ‡َŲ§ Ų±َŲِŁ…َŁƒَ Ų§Ł„Ł„Ł‡ُ۔ So if you have mercy on a goat, may Allah have mercy on you. (Musnad Ahmad and its chain of transmission is correct. Hadith number: 15592)

(7) Reading Takbir more after Tasmiyyah:

That is, when we slaughter an animal, we also recite Takbir after Tasmiyah. Because this is one of the etiquettes of slaughtering an animal. That is, when we slaughter an animal, we should also recite Allahu Akbar after Bismillah.
Hazrat Anas (RA) states: «Ų¶َŲَّŁ‰ Ų§Ł„Ł†َّŲØِŁŠُّ ŲµَŁ„َّŁ‰ Ų§Ł„Ł„Ł‡ُ Ų¹َŁ„َŁŠْŁ‡ِ ŁˆَŲ³َŁ„َّŁ…َ ŲØِŁƒَŲØْŲ“َŁŠْŁ†ِ ŁŠُŲ³َŁ…ِّŁŠ ŁˆَŁŠُŁƒَŲØِّŲ±ُ» The Prophet (PBUH) slaughtered two rams by saying Bismillaah and Allaah is Great. (Saheeh al-Bukhari, hadeeth no. 7399) Similarly, reciting Durood on this occasion or reciting such azkar is not proven by the Qur'an and Hadith. Therefore, we should avoid such acts during slaughter.
In the same way, we will recite Tasmiyyah and Takbir when we are slaughtering an animal. But before slaughtering, some people read Tasmiyah by touching the back of the animal. We have no proof of that. So we should also avoid this work.

(8) When slaughtering, name the person by whom the animal is being slaughtered:

The etiquette of slaughtering animals also includes that when we slaughter an animal, name the person from whom we are slaughtering the animal. Hazrat Abu Saeed Al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: He slaughtered a ram with horns and said: "Ł‡َŲ°َŲ§ Ų¹َŁ†ِّŁŠ،ŁˆَŲ¹َŁ…َّŁ†ْ Ł„َŁ…ْ ŁŠُŲ¶َŲِّ Ł…ِŁ†ْ Ų£ُŁ…َّŲŖِŁŠ" This is from me and from those of my ummah who have not sacrificed. (Musnad Ahmad and this hadith is correct. Hadith number: 11051)
But even if one intends to slaughter and does not utter words with one's tongue, it will suffice. Umar ibn al-Khattab (RA) narrates that he heard the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) saying: Ų„Ł†Ł…Ų§ Ų§Ł„Ų£Ų¹Ł…Ų§Ł„ ŲØŲ§Ł„Ł†ŁŠŲ§ŲŖ، ŁˆŲ„Ł†Ł…Ų§ Ł„ŁƒŁ„ Ų§Ł…Ų±Ų¦ Ł…Ų§ Ł†ŁˆŁ‰ Deeds depend on intentions. Whoever intends, he gets what he intended. (Sahih Al-Bukhari, Hadith No. 01)

(9) Praying to Allah for acceptance while slaughtering:

One of the etiquettes of slaughtering an animal is that while slaughtering an animal, we should pray to Allah to accept this sacrifice. Because if our sacrifice is not accepted in the sight of Allah, then surely our hard work will not be of any use to us.
Therefore, the Prophet (PBUH) taught us to pray to Allaah for the acceptance of this sacrifice. Hazrat Ayesha (RA) narrates that the Prophet (PBUH) took a knife and laid the ram down and slaughtered it.
Then he said: «ŲØِŲ§Ų³ْŁ…ِ Ų§Ł„Ł„Ł‡ِ، Ų§Ł„Ł„Ł‡ُŁ…َّ ŲŖَŁ‚َŲØَّŁ„ْ Ł…ِŁ†ْ Ł…ُŲَŁ…َّŲÆٍ، ŁˆَŲ¢Ł„ِ Ł…ُŲَŁ…َّŲÆٍ، ŁˆَŁ…ِŁ†ْ Ų£ُŁ…َّŲ©ِ Ł…ُŲَŁ…َّŲÆٍ» In the name of Allah (I have slaughtered this animal). O Allah, accept (this sacrifice) on behalf of Muhammad, the family of Muhammad and the Ummah of Muhammad. (Sahih Muslim, Hadith No. 1967)
The above hadith says that he first slaughtered and then recited Tasmiyyah, which means that he started slaughtering the animal and at the same time took the name of Allah. We have described the etiquette of slaughtering animals in the light of the Qur'an and Hadith. Therefore, we must take full care of these etiquettes while slaughtering animals. So that we can get the right reward for the sacrifice. May Allah help us to understand the religion. Amen!
