Prayer's conditions in the light of Qur'an and authentic hadiths

Prayer's conditions in the light of the Qur'an and authentic hadiths. Prayer is the second most important part of Islam. Prayer is such an important issue that Islam has not forgiven prayer under any circumstances. Whether a person is in the presence or in travel, in war or in peace, in sickness or in health, it is necessary to offer prayers in every situation.
However, it is certain that in certain special circumstances, Islam relaxes the prayer's conditions and some of its commands. But in no case does he forgive prayers.
Prayer is actually a golden opportunity to meet Allah. When a person goes to meet an honorable person, that person has certain conditions for the meeting. In the same way, when a person goes to meet Allah, that is, to offer prayers, Allah has laid down special conditions for this meeting. We have to take care of these conditions in all circumstances otherwise our prayers will not be accepted before Allah.
In the light of the Qur'an and authentic hadiths, we will explain to you the prayer's conditions.

Condition definition:

According to Islamic jurisprudence, the definition of a condition is as follows: "The the non-existence of which necessitates the non-existence of something. But the existence of which does not necessitate the existence or non-necessity of anything.
For example, ablution is one of the prayer's conditions. If there is no ablution, then there will be no prayers. But if there is ablution, then he doesn't need to offer prayers.
The number of prayer's conditions is 09. Those 09 conditions are as follows:

(1) Being a Muslim:

Anyone who wants to offer prayers must be a Muslim. The opposite of Islam is disbelief. And no action of a person who is a disbeliever is acceptable in the sight of Allah. Allah said: Ł…َŲ§ ŁƒَŲ§Ł†َ Ł„ِŁ„ْŁ…ُŲ“ْŲ±ِŁƒِŁŠŁ†َ Ų£َŁ†ْ ŁŠَŲ¹ْŁ…ُŲ±ُŁˆŲ§ Ł…َŲ³َŲ§Ų¬ِŲÆَ Ų§Ł„Ł„َّŁ‡ِ Ų“َŲ§Ł‡ِŲÆِŁŠŁ†َ Ų¹َŁ„َŁ‰ Ų£َŁ†ْŁُŲ³ِŁ‡ِŁ…ْ ŲØِŲ§Ł„ْŁƒُŁْŲ±ِ Ų£ُŁˆŁ„َŲ¦ِŁƒَ ŲَŲØِŲ·َŲŖْ Ų£َŲ¹ْŁ…َŲ§Ł„ُŁ‡ُŁ…ْ ŁˆَŁِŁŠ Ų§Ł„Ł†َّŲ§Ų±ِ Ł‡ُŁ…ْ Ų®َŲ§Ł„ِŲÆُŁˆŁ†َ۔ It is not for the polytheists to build the mosques of Allah, even though they are witnesses of their disbelief. The deeds of these people are lost and they will abide in the Fire forever (Surat at-Tawbah, 17).
That is, no action of the polytheists is acceptable in the sight of God.

(2) Having intellect:

Having intellect is also one of the prayer's conditions that are forgiven to an insane person. As the following hadith will make clear.
Hazrat Ayesha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said: Ų±ُŁِŲ¹َ Ų§Ł„ْŁ‚َŁ„َŁ…ُ Ų¹َŁ†ْ Ų«َŁ„َŲ§Ų«َŲ©ٍ: Ų¹َŁ†ِ Ų§Ł„Ł†َّŲ§Ų¦ِŁ…ِ ŲَŲŖَّŁ‰ ŁŠَŲ³ْŲŖَŁŠْŁ‚ِŲøَ، ŁˆَŲ¹َŁ†ِ Ų§Ł„ŲµَّŲŗِŁŠŲ±ِ ŲَŲŖَّŁ‰ ŁŠَŁƒْŲØَŲ±َ، ŁˆَŲ¹َŁ†ِ Ų§Ł„ْŁ…َŲ¬ْŁ†ُŁˆŁ†ِ ŲَŲŖَّŁ‰ ŁŠَŲ¹ْŁ‚ِŁ„َ، Ų£َŁˆْ ŁŠُŁِŪŒŁ‚ The pen was taken away from three persons (ie their sin is not recorded). The sleeping person until he wakes up. The immature child until he becomes an adult, and the insane person until he recovers. (Sunan Ibn Majah and the chain of its transmission are correct. Hadith No. 2014)

(3) Having puberty:

The opposite of puberty is immaturity. And the minimum age of any human being is 07 years. After 07 years, this person will be ordered to offer prayers. Our beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said:: "Ł…ُŲ±ُŁˆŲ§ Ų£َŲØْŁ†َŲ§Ų”َŁƒُŁ…ْ ŲØِŲ§Ł„ŲµَّŁ„َŲ§Ų©ِ Ł„ِŲ³َŲØْŲ¹ِ Ų³ِŁ†ِŁŠŁ†َ، ŁˆَŲ§Ų¶ْŲ±ِŲØُŁˆŁ‡ُŁ…ْ Ų¹َŁ„َŁŠْŁ‡َŲ§ Ł„ِŲ¹َŲ“ْŲ±ِ Ų³ِŁ†ِŁŠŁ†َAt the age of seven, order your sons to pray. (If they do not pray) then beat them at the age of ten (so that they pray). (Musnad Ahmad and the chain of its transmission is Hasan. Hadith No. 6756)

(4) Performing ablution:

Whoever performs the prayers must first perform ablutions. Arshad said: ŁŠَŲ§ Ų£َŁŠُّŁ‡َŲ§ Ų§Ł„َّŲ°ِŁŠŁ†َ Ų¢Ł…َŁ†ُŁˆŲ§ Ų„ِŲ°َŲ§ Ł‚ُŁ…ْŲŖُŁ…ْ Ų„ِŁ„َŁ‰ Ų§Ł„ŲµَّŁ„Ų§Ų©ِ ŁَŲ§ŲŗْŲ³ِŁ„ُŁˆŲ§ ŁˆُŲ¬ُŁˆŁ‡َŁƒُŁ…ْ ŁˆَŲ£َŁŠْŲÆِŁŠَŁƒُŁ…ْ Ų„ِŁ„َŁ‰ Ų§Ł„ْŁ…َŲ±َŲ§ŁِŁ‚ِ ŁˆَŲ§Ł…ْŲ³َŲُŁˆŲ§ ŲØِŲ±ُŲ¤ُŁˆŲ³ِŁƒُŁ…ْ ŁˆَŲ£َŲ±ْŲ¬ُŁ„َŁƒُŁ…ْ Ų„ِŁ„َŁ‰ Ų§Ł„ْŁƒَŲ¹ْŲØَŁŠْŁ†ِ O you who believe! When you stand for prayer, wash your face and hands up to your elbows. And wipe your heads. And wash your feet up to the ankles. (Surat al-Ma'ida, verse no. 06)
In this blessed verse, Allah has made ablution a condition for prayer.

(5) Elimination of impurity:

A person must stay away from all kinds of impurity to perform prayers. There are three types of impurity.

·         Impurity of the body:

It is necessary for a person who is praying to cleanse his body before praying. Hazrat Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said: «ŲŖَŁ†َŲ²َّŁ‡ُŁˆŲ§ Ł…ِŁ†َ Ų§Ł„ْŲØَŁˆْŁ„ِ؛ ŁَŲ„ِŁ†َّ Ų¹َŲ§Ł…َّŲ©َ Ų¹َŲ°َŲ§ŲØِ Ų§Ł„ْŁ‚َŲØْŲ±ِ Ł…ِŁ†َ Ų§Ł„ْŲØَŁˆْŁ„ِ» Beware of urine (splatter) because most of the torment of the grave is due to urine (splatter). (Al-Majalis was Jawahar-ul-Ilm and the chain of its transmission is correct. Hadith No. 31)
This does not only mean avoiding urine splatter, but also that one's body must be completely clean to perform the prayers.
·         Impurity of clothes:
The clothes of a person who prays must also be clean. Because Allah has said: This does not only mean avoiding urine splatter but also that one's body must be completely clean to perform the prayers.

·         Impurity of clothes:

The clothes of a person who prays must also be clean. Because Allah has said: ŁˆَŲ«ِŁŠَŲ§ŲØَŁƒَ ŁَŲ·َŁ‡ِّŲ±ْ And keep your clothes clean. (Surat al-Muddaththir, verse No. 04)

·         Impurity of the place:

We should also clean the place where we offer prayers. A prayer is a pure act, so we should perform it in a holy place.

(6) Covering seventy:

The scholars of the ummah agree that a person who does not perform the prayers by covering the seventy despite having the power to cover the seventy, his prayers become invalid. The man has seventy from the navel to the knees. While the whole body of a woman is seventy.
Allah said: ŁŠَŲ§ ŲØَŁ†ِŁŠ Ų¢ŲÆَŁ…َ Ų®ُŲ°ُŁˆŲ§ Ų²ِŁŠŁ†َŲŖَŁƒُŁ…ْ Ų¹ِŁ†ْŲÆَ ŁƒُŁ„ِّ Ł…َŲ³ْŲ¬ِŲÆٍ O children of Adam! When you go to the mosque (to pray), take your adornment. (Surat al-A'raf, verse no. 31) In this blessed verse, "adornment" means seventy and "mosque" means prayer.

(7) Entering the time of prayer:

We can offer prayers only when the time for prayers begins. Prayers offered before the time without any excuse are not valid. Allah said: Ų„ِŁ†َّ Ų§Ł„ŲµَّŁ„Ų§Ų©َ ŁƒَŲ§Ł†َŲŖْ Ų¹َŁ„َŁ‰ Ų§Ł„ْŁ…ُŲ¤ْŁ…ِŁ†ِŁŠŁ†َ ŁƒِŲŖَŲ§ŲØŲ§ً Ł…َŁˆْŁ‚ُŁˆŲŖŲ§ً Prayers are obligatory on the believers at the appointed time. (Surat al-Nisa ', verse No 103)

(8) Facing the Qibla:

Turning to the qiblah to perform the prayers is also one of the conditions of the prayers.۔ Allah said: Ł‚َŲÆْ Ł†َŲ±َŁ‰ ŲŖَŁ‚َŁ„ُّŲØَ ŁˆَŲ¬ْŁ‡ِŁƒَ ŁِŁŠ Ų§Ł„Ų³َّŁ…َŲ§Ų”ِ ŁَŁ„َŁ†ُŁˆَŁ„ِّŁŠَŁ†َّŁƒَ Ł‚ِŲØْŁ„َŲ©ً ŲŖَŲ±ْŲ¶َŲ§Ł‡َŲ§ ŁَŁˆَŁ„ِّ ŁˆَŲ¬ْŁ‡َŁƒَ Ų“َŲ·ْŲ±َ Ų§Ł„ْŁ…َŲ³ْŲ¬ِŲÆِ Ų§Ł„ْŲَŲ±َŲ§Ł…ِ ۔(O Prophet) We see your face rising towards the sky. We will take you back to your favorite qiblah. So turn your face towards the Masjid-e-Haram. (Surat al-Baqarah: 144)

(9) Intention:

Intention is necessary in every work. That is why intention is one of Prayer's condition. It is necessary to make intention even before offering prayers. Hazrat  Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that he heard the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) saying: Ų„Ł†Ł…Ų§ Ų§Ł„Ų£Ų¹Ł…Ų§Ł„ ŲØŲ§Ł„Ł†ŁŠŲ§ŲŖ، ŁˆŲ„Ł†Ł…Ų§ Ł„ŁƒŁ„ Ų§Ł…Ų±Ų¦ Ł…Ų§ Ł†ŁˆŁ‰ Deeds depend on intention. Every person gets what he intended. (Sahih Al-Bukhari, Hadith No. 01)
In the present age, some people have made up their own words of intention, of which we find no evidence in the Qur'an and Hadith.
The intention is just the name of the intention of the heart. It is against the Sunnah to make the intention for prayers by uttering any words with the tongue. So we must avoid this process. May Allah make us the guardians of the Sunnah. Ameen!
